After-Hours Access Application

After-hours access to the I2P Lab is a privilege. It is granted only to responsible, experienced users who have demonstrated safe and consistent use of the lab.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Hold an active lab pass during the semester of application.

  • Have been a lab pass holder for at least one full semester.

  • Demonstrate proficiency by completing the following projects (instructions below): 

    • Project #1 - Bed adhesion on Bambu Labs P1S

    • Project #2 - Multicolor printing on Bambu Labs P1S with AMS

    • Project #3 - Multi nozzle printing on Bambu Labs H2D

    • Project #4 - Multi toolhead printing on Prusa XL

    • Project #5 - First Layer Calibration on Prusa MK3

  • Have no more than 1 strike on their account.

  • Pass a short quiz on troubleshooting, safety, and lab policies.

  • Sign the I2P After-Hours Access Agreement.

  • You will need to provide us with a headshot for your I2P Profile

 

Notes:

  • Meeting these requirements does not guarantee approval. Final decisions are made by lab leadership based on overall responsibility, demonstrated judgment, and lab needs.

  • If you do not currently qualify for after hours but require access due to work, family, and class commitments during lab open hours, please reach out to carolv@colostate.edu.

 

PROFICIENCY PROJECT FILES AND INSTRUCTIONS

Project # 1 - 5 Buddies

Task Requirements 

  • Must be printed on Bambu Lab P1S

  • Print 5 on one print bed with “feet” flat on build plate (same as orientation pictured on the right)

  • Print at 50% scale

  • All 5 must print successfully

Documentation Requirements 

You must include a picture of the finished print in your application

  • Take photo BEFORE removing from build plate

  • Do not alter print before photo 

  • Show a successful print of 5 buddies with printer model in frame

Project # 2 - Idea2Product CSU Card

Task Requirements 

  • Must be printed on the Bambu Labs P1S with AMS

  • Must be oriented correctly to maximize printer efficiency 

  • Must be at least 4 colors

  • Must be printed in PLA or PETG filament 

  • Print at 100% scale

Documentation Requirements 

You must include 2 pictures of the print in your application

  • Take photo 1 (full-screen screenshot) of SLICED print

  • Take photo 2 BEFORE removing from build plate

  • Do not alter print before photo 

  • Must show all colors used with printer model in frame

Project # 3 - Grogu from the Mandalorian

Task Requirements 

  • Print on the Bambu Labs H2D

  • Must be oriented correctly to maximize strength and quality 

  • Must be at least 2 colors  

  • Must use both nozzle heads 

Documentation Requirements 

1. You MUST Show an I2P staff that the multiple nozzles are being used – Needs to be checked off by staff  

2. You must include a picture of the finished print in your application

  • Take photo BEFORE removing from build plate

  • Do not alter print before photo 

  • Must show all filament colors loaded into printer and printed model in 1 frame

Project # 4 - Orange I2P Name Card

Task Requirements 

  • Must be printed on the Prusa XL

  • Must be oriented correctly to maximize quality 

  • Must be at least 2 colors (orange base with white lettering) 

  • Do not scale 

  • Do not alter text fonts

  • Include name, number, expected graduation date

  • Must use multiple tool heads 

Documentation Requirements 

You must include a picture of the finished print in your application

  • Take photo BEFORE removing from build plate

  • Do not alter print before photo 

  • Show nozzles with correct colors on printer 

  • Show completed name card

Project # 5 - First Layer Calibration

Task Requirements 

  • Adjust the Z height on a Prusa MK3

Documentation Requirements 

  • You must have a staff member watch and sign off on the leveling 

  • Submit a photo of the final calibration path on the print bed in your application
